All Neighbourhood Pharmacies participate in the Return of Unwanted Medicine (RUM) Program. Keeping unwanted or expired medicines at home can be unsafe. Over time, medicines can break down and may not work properly or could even be harmful if taken after their expiry date. Many people aren’t sure what to do with old medicines but throwing them in the bin or washing them down the sink isn’t safe for your health or the environment.
The safest and most environmentally friendly way to dispose of unwanted medicines is to bring them back to our pharmacy. Simply place them in a sealed plastic bag and return them to us. We will dispose of them safely using a special Return of Unwanted Medicines (RUM) bin, where they are sent away for secure and proper destruction.
