Medication Review

Medschecks and Diabetes Medschecks

MedsCheck and Diabetes MedsCheck are in-pharmacy services designed to help you use your medicines safely and effectively. These services give you the chance to meet one-on-one with a pharmacist to review your medications and create a personalised plan to get the most out of them.

During a MedsCheck, your pharmacist will:

  • Review all your medications.
  • Talk with you about how and when to take them.
  • Identify any problems, such as missed doses or side effects.
  • Give guidance on storing your medicines safely.
  • Provide education to help you manage your health confidently.

Diabetes MedsChecks are tailored for people with type 2 diabetes. In addition to reviewing your medications, your pharmacist will help with:

  • Using blood glucose monitoring devices correctly.
  • Understanding your medicines and how they work.
  • Tips to improve blood sugar control and reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.

These consultations with the pharmacist are free and if a more detailed review is needed, or if any serious issues are found, your pharmacist may recommend a Home Medication Review, which is a longer 30–40 minute review arranged through your GP.
